Ambient Temp Sensor

Post by emm »

Hi All,

You might have seen in recent posts i'm installing a VDO dash with trip computer to my 850 that was fitted with a Yazaki cluster.

So got all the bits bar one, the ambient temp sensor. This is the sensor that displays the temp on the dash not the air condition/water coolant sensor.

I have three questions?
1) Where is this located? or where is the wire that i need to plug the sensor in to? I have a 1996 (actually made in 1995 but volvo class this as a 96) Volvo 850
2) While i locate the temp sensor if it is not installed will this throw up a fault on the dash board thus needing the ECU to be reset? (i ask this as the idiots sent me the coolant sensor not the ambient temp sensor
3) Would this work as an ambient temp sensor http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AT1055-VOLVO- ... 43b2e4f255

They are usually plugged into a clip at the lower driver side in front of the radiator, just inside the lower bumper spoiler/air dam.

They look like this and there should be a wire plug stored somewhere for it.
