So I'm about to tackle replacing the electrical part of the ignition switch assembly in my 90 740 turbo. The ignition is located on the dash.
What are the steps to replacing it? I pulled the dash cover off around it and couldnt figure out how it comes apart.

1. Disconnect the battery negative lead.
2. Remove the trim panel from below the steering wheel.
3. Disconnect the multi plug from the switch.
4. Remove the two screws that secure the switch to the steering lock. Withdraw the switch.
5. Refit by reversing the removal operations. Note that the hole in the centre of the switch is shaped so that it will only engage with the driving spindle in one position.
Bill.
