850 Odometer STOP PREVENTION!!

This is my 3rd 850 in a row, and I think I may know how to avoid breaking the gears on the trip/odometer.
People tend to push the trip reset button very quickly, and perhaps while they are driving, with the gears
already in motion. If you must push the trip reset, try to do it slowly while the car is stopped. I don't know,
what do you think? It shouldn't have to be done this way, but this could be a possible preventative measure?

Judging by the condition of the gears I replaced in my 850, I don't think that would help much. They were basically wax, ready to crumble. That said, it wouldn't hurt to baby them like that.

I think it's really just a thing with where VDO got their parts from.

Both my Saab and the old Buick had a VDO cluster; NEITHER had working odometers as they got older.
