which XC90 to avoid ?

A mid-size luxury crossover SUV, the Volvo XC90 made its debut in 2002 at the Detroit Motor Show. Recognized for its safety, practicality, and comfort, the XC90 is a popular vehicle around the world. My wife drove a co-workers xc90 and said she really likes it, have been contemplating one and see the prices all over the place, which are the dogs ? is the 5 better than the 6 ?

The 2003-2006 6 cylinder T6 is the one you are reading all the ugly posts about.
The 2007 and later 6 is fine.
The 5 cylinder sold in NA through 2006 is fine.

NA being North America, not Naturally Aspirated , correct ?

Before I bought my XC90 in England I looked at other 4x4s and whatever I looked at whether it be VW, BMW, Mercedes or Jeep, all the 'experts' said diesel is better than petrol. My original thoughts were that the 2.4 diesel engine would lack power but, this is not the case.
Try looking at www.honestjohn it's a U.K. site that does reviews and road test reports. It gives the good and more importantly the bad points.

Yes, North America. Unfortunately no diesels in NA either.

I would rate the 5cyl turbo over the new 6 cylinder still. poor power, oil consumption and high gas mileage.
