i noticed the park brake was a bit slack, so looked at MVS, and 5 mins later - fixed. ( 1992 940 )
how easy is that, and without getting under the car!
the 940 is for my son, just got his licence, and we have been getting it in a nice reliable condition. all the the usual suspect things are being replaced, as listed on the site. we have only had 2 funny things. first we needed a new ( recond ) steering rack. that was a bit expensive. and then we had an issue with ignition. we replaced a few things, but ultimately it came down to an alarm system fault. bypassed the alarm, and ignition fixed. Except, we had a parasitic battery drain. fearing it was still alarm related, we removed alarm bits and close inspection showed a squished wire near the siren. ( not sure if original or aftermarket ) hopefully battery drain now fixed.
in the family we also have an xc90, and a V70, but i am sure the 940 will outlive them both!

Yes, the 940 was the last true Volvo. We have had many volvo´s, 244, 245, 740, 940, 855, v50 and v60. (I also owned a car called volvo 460, but it was a low quality counterfeit of the 850)

For me it all boils down to reliability and ease of doing repair myself. The old RWD´s are the best.
