I understand the S60/S80 I-5 engine needs TB change at 70K-80K miles or so.
Any guru can advise the following issues:
1- The Aisin WP is the same as 850 series, so it should last some 140K-180K or so. So no issues here.
2- The idler pulley should last until 120K-130K or so.
3- The tensioner pulley: when does it need to be replaced?
4- Front Cam Seals, do these leak like the 850 series?
5- Front Crank Seal: how long does it last?

all 99 and later have 105K or longer timing belt interval.
The eccentric tensioner is changed with every belt change.
Seals seem to have a longer life but they can leak prematurely with poor oil service history.
The safest thing is to change the cam seals and the crank seal and it will be done once for a very long time if not forever.

I understand that for 1999+ models, Volvo says 105K miles for TB, but the Volvo techs all told me to stick to 70K-80K.

The P1 cars with I5 engines (1994-2000): Front CAM Seals leak at 100K but CRANK Seal rarely leaks before 200K.
Is it the same case for let's say a 2005 S60/S80 I5 engine?

I just did my timing belt and second this recommendation. So much easier than trying to take the crank bolt off (and needing to purchase the special counterhold tool).pkc303 wrote:Good video, but if you don't have the air tools, it is easier to leave the crank pulley on, and removed the two bolts on the plastic guard toward the front of the pulley. Then the flossing of the belt off and on around the crank pulley.
I never could find any marks on my crankshaft, however. I just made some marks of my own when I lined up the camshafts.

And the barely visible timing marks on the crankshaft gear and engine block - the one on the engine block it's not visible with the belt on, but can be felt by hand, it's a small bump. There is also a timing bump on the crankshaft pulley (not visible in the photo)
