abs/brake/traction control light

Post by mcj »

All came on at once this morning. What's wrong? How do I fix it? Also, where do I get a service manual for my 99 V70?

Your ABS module is bad. Send it to Victor Rocha (google his name or ABS repair) to reman it. Cost about $145. Dealer wants $700. Takes about a week turnaround.

The link to his site is: http://home.earthlink.net/~vicrocha/

Mine is almost always on as well, but the pedal will vibrate heavily when the brakes are applied (the ABS kicks in strongly, the car almost comes to a stop), even at low speed.

Does anyone know if the module would cause it to do that ? Or is it another defective part ?

It's on and off and for the most part, it's a nuisance but could be a serious issue if someone rear ended me.

Thanks,

Matt B.

My 99 S70 just started doing this. Sometimes the brake light comes on and that's when the speedometer stops working. I ordered the torx bit today and as soon as that comes in I'll remove the ABS module and send it out. By the way, I'm new to the forum. I just bought the 99 S70 about a month and a half ago.

No, the light is working independently from a thinning or warped brake rotor. I agree that the ABS module is bad. Get it rebuilt by Victor. I did last year...the best $140 I spent!
