Lingering Oil light

Just got a nice 89 240 DL with only about 200,000 miles on it.

The oil light stays on for several seconds after startup. Is this normal or is it an early indicator of the dreaded oil pump O-ring problem?

Could be as simple as a bad oil filter. I had a similar problem several years ago, when buying some cheap oil filter. Change oil and filter and hopefully it will help.

I agree with LaRy on the filter. The oil could also be the wrong viscosity.
