1987 740 GLE Hard Start Topic is solved

Hello All,

I was at school to pick up my son. When we got back in
the car it would not start. After it sat for about 20 minutes
it started. It starts great cold, at operating temp. it is hard
to start. Since this problem began the idle speed has increased.
And at times in park the idle speed surges.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Sounds a bit like a vacuum leak. Check all small hoses in the engine bay for cracks or holes.

You could be getting a spark jumping from the spark plug wires to the engine (grounding, essentially). Look at the engine in a dark garage. If you see electricity arcs, get new wires.
