lights stay on

Post by ddf »

My 1992 740 SE Turbo head and tail lights stay on with the key off and switch in the off position. Replaced the switch and still on.
Disconnect the neg battery cable to get them off. Any ideas for a fix?
Thanks

I would suspect a problem in the ignition switch if you have replaced the light switch. With the light switch in the headlights position the parking and headlights should be on if the ignition switch is in position 1 or 11. If the ignition switch is switched off with the light switch still in position 1 or 11 the lights should go out. The blue/yellow wire from the ignition switch runs to the light switch. Check this wire to see if it is still passing current with the ignition switch in the Off position.
