Headlights not working

Post by ephipps1 »

MY son's 1994 940 Volvo's headlights do not work, however the high beam does. We have taken the car to two different mechanics and both can find nothing wrong, however, even the headlights come on, they eventually go off....also, the headlight warning signal comes on.

I had a similar problem with my 1988 760 Turbo Wagon. The low beams would randomly go out at the worst possible time and as you said the high beams would still work. The solution to my problem was replacing the head light relay. The head light relay on my 760 was rectangular (about the size of 2 relays side by side). It was located on the relay panel.

Not such a big relay on the 940. Attached shows the relays and how to get at them.
