I am trying to add a power seat to my s70 that originally did not have power seats. After finding a donor power seat, I have installed it into the car. i cannot for the life of me get the seat to do anything. The power connector has power coming out of the floor. when I "jump " the motors, they all seem to seem to function as they should.(in other words if I bypass the switch ,they all function.) This passenger seat does not have a control box.it seems to be wired from the power connector to the switch to the motors.
My question is, is there a piece missing somewhere up stream that i need to get to make the seat work. I checked the fuses, and all are good. when i switched the drivers seat to the passenger side, everything works.
Any advise would be helpful. very frustrated with this project. thanks.
I just got off the phone with Volvo and they say I may need a relay. but I cant seem to find anywhere where one might go/

Did you add the extra metal cased circuit breaker in position 39 or 40 behind the fuse panel? Remove the 4 torx screws which surround the fuse panel near the wipers and check or fit the circuit breaker. I can't recall which is for left seat and which is for right. If not there just buy them from a dismantler. Any 850 with power seats will have them.

I did add the circuit breaker to the fuse box. I have twelve volts at the connector. there are three wires on the male connector from the seat:
green, black and orange. green is power ,black is ground , but not sure what the orange wire does. I'm sure in all these years I'm not the 1st to do this, but after searching the internet for hours, no seems to have posted about it doing it.

I'm having trouble following your post. Are you adding two seats or one?
You say the passenger seat has no control box, though you are fitting one seat only??
Does the driver's seat have a control box? There's a multi pin connector under the driver's seat which is part of the car loom that should plug into a control box.
As far as the passenger side is concerned I'll have a look at my 2000 V70's seats today and tell you if there's a module loom on both sides.
I fitted a driver's seat from an 850 into a '99 V70 earlier this year with no problems other than no airbag connector on the 850 seat. This was fixed with a 3 ohm load going back to the SRS module.

I have added two seats to my Volvo. the drivers seat works perfect. Plug and play. its the passenger side that is giving me a problem the drivers seat has a memory module under the seat, the passenger seat does not.it wires directly to the existing wiring harness. I have a constant 12 volts from the existing wiring harness coming up from the floor so I know my source is good. in order to diagnose, I plugged the drivers seat into the harness in the passenger seat position. all functions work. as far as I can tell, the passenger seat should be working. I know my motors are good. does anyone know if there is a relay somewhere that needs to be installed under the fuse box? I have no place to install under the hood. I have not looked inside under the steering wheel to see if there is any open space.
thanks

You should also get 12V on the Yellow/ Violet wire which is the third wire in the seat power connector coming from the car, this should only be live with the key in the position for power to the radio and ignition on, if its dead check Fuse 11C/35 (10A) The relay is on the PCB switch pack, it is the black box close to where the black wire is soldered to the PCB, you should be able to hear that click when you turn the ignition key on/ off, the only other relay involved
The metal can circuit breakers are as follows:
11C/39 Left
11C/40 Right
Depending upon what model year your seats are from you might also experiance issues with the seatbelt warning not flashing when the belt isn't secured in to the receiver on the seat, the 2000MY cars employed an inductive priximity sensor in the seatbelt buckle whereas the earlier cars used a simple switch, if you connect the wrong type of buckle to a 2000MY car it throws the SRS fault light on as it cant see the seatbelt buckle signal (been there, got the tee-shirt, and it took me quite a while to find this one out), the fix is simple, swap the seatbelt buckle from the seat you took out to the seat you have fitted - Mike

Result, F35 is used to switch the relay in the seat to deliver power to the switches and eventually the seat motors.
Are your seatbelt warning flashers still working or have you not checked that yet? - MIke
