S70 GLT 1998

Post by Keith Millett »

I have a few questions. :?: I have a volvo S70GLT, 1998 with 109K.

1. Need to replace the brakes and rotors. Was going to go with Brembo with matching pads. Is this a good match?? If so where can I purchase product on line??

2. The car has never had the transmission fluid changed. Is this recommended at this point?? If so can the fluid be drained and replaced or is it better to take to a mechanic that can drain / flush and remove the pan and clean??

3. I recently had all of the belts changed, oil, air filter, spark plugs. Can someone tell me where the gas filter is?? Is it easy to replace?? Also the PVC valve, should this be done??

4. How do I turn off the service engine light. Do I need to OBDII tool??
Thanks for your input.

1.) Brembo brakes are quality products. I would recomend the ceramic pads - less dust and they seem to last longer. www.nopionline.com

2.) Perform a search on Transmission. There is a wealth of information on how to do this yourself and other issues. After my recent trans problems I will be flushing my trans every 30K.

3.) Another search on fuel filter. I outlined the steps in a post last month. The PVC should be part of the 60K service package parts.

4.) My 96 requires the service light to be turned off by the ODBCII reader. Sears has a reader on sale now for $139 and there was a 10% off coupon in most major US papers this past Thursday.

1-3. Ditto Tsquared's advice -- search this forum. Annoyingly, you have to put the word 'and' between words if you want to search on all of them. For instance, type in 'transmission and flush' in the search box. Search is linked above near the logo, or click this: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/search.php
