While driving around local, the car is fine. When it warms up (and more frequently on the highway) it stops accelerating. The engine doesn't shut down, I just don't get a response when I press the accelerator pedal. The car goes to idle, I coast to a stop, put it in park, (I don't shut it off ), sit for a few minutes, then put it in drive and everything is back to normal. I recenty took it to the dealer for poor acceleration and they replaced the throttle position sensor(?) and the O2 sensor (because of a check engine light). The light is back on and the urgent message is on and its only been a week. WHAT'S UP WITH THIS?

Are you sure they replaced the ETM, or did they just do the S/W update, and maybe a cleaning??

Sounds like your Throttle body (Position sensor) was worn through to the point where the S/W update couldn't disregard spurious error codes. Sounds like a hard failure.

Does the Service record indicate a new ETM part, or just download labor?

Similarly does the Service record indicate a new O2 sensor?

Volvo has become just dishonest enough to try to recoup ETM losses by falsely charging for parts they didn't install.
