1994 850 2.4 Jetronic-Check Engine Light On-REPAIRED

Post by deaster2 »

Yesterday I finally found the problem, yet I don't know what the code means-code "242" from the A6 terminal...cleared that code using the procedures posted here and the check engine light went out and hasn't come back on yet. I hope this helps someone...the point is check the codes in the A2 and A6 terminals. Is there a listing for the codes on the A6 terminal? I am curious as to what was actually wrong with the car, even though the car ran win no apparent problems other than the check engine light staring me in the face. The information posted on this web site is excellent...

I included my original post below:

We just returned from a 1600 mile trip in this car, all went well with vehicle. Yesterday morning, on the way to work, my wife didn't get a mile down the road and the check engine light came on. I printed the code list from this site along with the code gathering instructions and on the A2 terminal, all I get is "111". According to the instructions, there is nothing wrong...yet the service engine light is on and won't go off. I disconnected the battery for several minutes, hoping that would "clear" the light, but it didn't. The car has 158,000 miles, while I was out of town last year, the check engine light came on, the wife took it to the Volvo dealer. $800.00 later, timing belt, EGR sensor and some other maintenance items, she was running fine again. The car had 139,000 miles when this occurred. Any thoughts, suggestions, tips or tricks would be appreciated on how to turn the check engine light off. I tried the "reset", but for some reason, I can't get the led to light after holding the button down for five seconds.
