So on my 2003 Volvo V70, I've had to replace some of the plastic tracking pieces in one of my doors and in the moonroof that have broken over time, and each time, after I've done it the travel "sensors" (?) are off now and so for instance the door window will try to go further than fully shut, and of course then backs out because of the resistance, and the amount that the moonroof moves to shut is off so I have to jigger it very lightly to get it completely closed for rain etc.
I'm sure this is simple but if you don't something it AINT simple, how can I reset the calibration of these parts' travel?
Thanx!!
Recalibrate Door windows and moonroof travel.

The attached are the SR mechanical adjustment and calibration procedures per VADIS.
There should be similar procedures for the window (I think) but I just cannot see where they are in VADIS...
This is what VIDA states on the power window mechanism:
“Checking the power window mechanism
Replacing the component
Caution! A new control module is delivered without software. The control module must be programmed when it has been replaced. For further information about programming and replacing the control module, see Driver's door module / passenger door module (DDM/PDM), replacing .
After replacing the control module the window position must be initialized.
Move the window to its upper limit position using manual control.
Initialize the window.
From model year 2003 inclusive, the window will lower approximately 10 centimeters and then close again during initialization.”
It appears that DDM/PDM initialization is to be carried out only through VIDA DiCE. I do not have a workaround but someone else here may have one.
Hope this helps.

Even if it doesn't work that's awesome info and a great reply, thank you!
I'll report back on it....BTW I didn't replace a module in the door, it was just the plastic sliding track part...

The windows and sunroof have manual calibrations also.
Windows: located fuse for driver's door module (DDM) or passenger's door module PDM) as applicable. While window is moving via auto up or auto down function remove the fuse for that door module. The position memory is active when moving and can be blanked by fuse removal when not written to the offline memory.
After 15 seconds re-install the fuse and then roll the window up using switch. Once it is all the way up then hold the window switch in the auto up position until you see the window move down and up just a few millimeters. You are done.
Sunroof: operate switch repeatedly until the sunroof goes to rear vent position. This may take literally a few hundred switch cycles to get the panel to creep in small increments to the rear up vent position. Once in vent position hold switch in the vent position until the rear edge of panel drops and returns to full open. Now it is calibrated. The instructions do not mention the small increments and repeated switch cycling that is often needed if the sunroof has detected an issue with its current calibration.

Well, with a few differences the Jimmy57 info was dead on, and I owe a hearty "f@$# yeh!!" to you both.
The differences were that when following the roof procedure I waited for a bit for the roof to drop, signaling it was done, and that never happened, so I ended waiting for a good minute or more on the last try to see if it would go, it never did, but after that the roof was calibrated pretty fricking close..., it could do with shutting a millimeter or 2 more and it would be dead flush, but if I shut it and ran off for some reason I'm sure it wouldn't leak or for certain not catastrophically.
I'm not joking when I say I'd love to buy you guys each a beer if you'll have it, send me a paypal address and I'll buy you one, it's the least I can do for great info that actually worked!
Thanx again!!

I am glad you had it sorted.
We help each other when we can, and this has been pretty rewarding to me.
Cheers!

I absolutely love this site. You guys have helped me figure out so much and saved me a ton of money. The recalibration on the passenger window worked perfectly. I purchased a used module off of ebay for $45.00. After installation the window would only go down half way and go back down automatically when it reached the closed position. To do the recalibration I pulled the fuse on the auto up, waited about a minute, put the fuse back in. I then rolled the window the rest of the way up while holding the switch the entire time, kept holding it for another 15 seconds or so once it reached the top. Finally I held it up one more time for another 15 seconds, just for kicks. Bamm! The window goes all the way down, all the way back up and stops when it reaches the top. You guys rock!!!! Next is the thermostat, then the passenger wheel bearing and finally the transmission module removal and repair (that last one scares me a little but hell, I either do that and it doesn't work and I buy another v70xc for 5 grand or pay someone else the 5 grand to do the transmission.) Thanks again guys!

So glad I found this solution, props to the forum!
I was slightly confused by the directions, so I wanted to post an explicit step-by-step guide (no offense to previous posters). I used this fix on my 2004 V70R.
Resetting top window position
1. Open driver's door and locate appropriate fuse in passenger compartment fusebox (left side of dashboard). #35 is driver's side, #36 is passenger side.
2. Lower the window you want to adjust as far as it will go. (if you're re-installing and it will only go half way down, that's fine.)
3. Here's the important part and if you don't have a fuse puller, it'll be easier with someone helping you. Pull the window button up to the auto raise position and as the window is going up, pull the fuse before the window reaches the top. You must do the two actions simultaneously or this won't work.
4. Wait a minute.
5. Put the fuse back in place. Now raise the window using the auto-up position and hold it for 15 seconds. If successful, the window will then lower and rise a couple of inches. That's it.
6. Test and enjoy your newly aligned window.
