Do I also need a check valve?

Turn off engine and do no touch brake pedal. Let vehicle sit for 4 hours. Now get in and depress brake pedal and check to see if it depresses with normal effort. If it is hard to depress ON THE FIRST PUSH then you need check valve.
Has the vehicle been doing fine since the fuse was replaced?

The fuse has fixed the hard brake on cold start, but what bothers me is the loud vibration sound that it makes during and after I shut off the vehicle.
I did what you suggested and it depressed about 1/3 of the way with normal effort. I had to give more effort to go the rest of the way.

As i posted earlier, I think your problem is the switch fir vacuum pump sticking and the pump runs too long or continuously at times. The pumps have a good service history and failures are rarely seen unless the switch sticks and pumps runs far longer than designed for and overheats.
You shouldn't hear pump run after engine warms up unless you push and release brake 2 0r more times rapidly.

Jimmy-
I was having trouble removing the switch from existing vacuum pump. Do I need to remove the hose before I remove the switch from the old pump? I havent ordered a new switch yet, so I don't want to break the existing switch by being too forceful when prying it off.
