automatic gear shift stuck

with brake depressed gear shift won't move unless i activate the override lever. what should i do?

What model and year?

The interlock on the gear lever requires ignition 'on' (position 2) and the brake pedal depressed. If it won't work like this, the first step is to check the fuse(s). Depends on model and year as to which fuses are involved.

thanks, i replaced defective neutral safety switch and fuse and all is well.
