850 Idles but will not run in drive for more than a mile

Post by dsawyer »

My 850 idles but stalls when it is put in drive... it sputters and then eventually quits. Things that I have noticed while trying to figure this out;
-When idling, if I open and slam the door it quits (weird)
-while the car is in park and idling and I knock on the air box enough to rattle it a little it quits (you can tell how desperate I am when I knock on things like an old TV)

I thought it might be the fuel relay until I noticed the things above.

non turbo wagon.. no codes.. I get a 1-1-1.

Anyone with any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I will do that when when I have sunlight tomorrow. Thank you for your reply! I am going to feel like an idiot if all the consternation that I have gone through results in a loose ground. Keep it simple!
