Ok, so I had an 88 740 turbo sedan but it had a little oil leak and my son borrowed it and ran it way to far without adding oil, needless to say it blew...I stripped it for parts and bought an 89 740 turbo wagon. The 89's turbo has a bad seal and leaks oil into the exhaust so it smokes like a crop duster. I thought it would be no problem to swap the turbo from my 88 but they are not the same, in fact all the information I have said that they would be the same, but under the hood tonight I found that not to be the case, they are definitely different....anyone ever hear of this???? and can one replace the other easily?
Basically I have 2 different turbos and I can't find one that looks like the one I am taking out online...the pictures all show one that looks exactly like the one I took out of my 88?
