Leaking oil near timing belt

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Leaking oil near timing belt

Post by MrMan2012 »

My 2001 Volvo S80 non turbo has been leaking oil and I thought it may be the valve cover gasket. I found out that it wasn't as easy a fix as I thought via trying to do it myself and research. I removed the cover over the spark plugs and saw oil near 3, 4 and 6, which I thought may be single bolts near those spark plugs or coming from the oil cap at least near 6(need to know how to fix this as well)... The main place I notice the oil leak is coming from is on the end near the timing belt which I am assuming is coming from the valve cover on that end, but not sure... If anyone can help me or have had this problem please let me know... Any help is greatly appreciated!

Could it be PCV related?
Search forum for PCV. There are several excellent write ups by Justin, cn90, and few others.
What is the mileage on you car?

Sounds like the Cam and/or crank seals leaking.
I'm working on the same issue.
The leaks come from behind the pulley cogs and go right onto the timing belt, up onto the upper area near the coil pack and all over the place if it has the cover off.
