Volvo A/C makes strange noise

I have a 1987 Volvo 740 that I love! But the A/C started making a strange noise at the beginning of the summer. It would come and go but now it is constant. It sounds like a low warbling and can sometimes turn into a loud squeal. It seems to happen whenever I turn the fan on now as opposed to earlier when it was just the A/C. Any advice?

I would suspect the bearing in the blower motor. This has been a problem in the past. You could try lubricating it.
