Driver side window stuck in down position

Post by sandiego »

Hi, never had a problem with my 2003 Volvo S40, this morning coming to work rolled down my window and it would not go back up, when I press to close window I can hear the motor as though its going to close but does nothing. Anyone ever experience this and if so what should I do. Thanks

Welcome aboard,
For sure, the problem sounds mechanical rather than electrical, and therefore you will need 'eyes in there' to see what's broken (probably a link from the actuator to the window panel has detached or broken). There are multiple mechanical components that can go bad in 10 years.
You will need to remove the panel to expose the assembly and the culprit will then be apparent.
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
Disclaimer: We (very) seldom do that
