Wow, a 2000 v70 with only 36,000 miles on it! I thought I might have the lowest mileage 2000 out there, guess not. And thanks for the tip but as a person who has used expanding foam in my house I would hesitate to put it in the car, stuff has some real pushing power when it starts to cure, could blow the whole corner up.

I am not happy about the part of this where a lawyer gets any money for our problems, but that is the system we have. I would prefer that people contact Volvo and give them a chance to make this right before anything goes to court. I did not call a lawyer first, I called a lawyer last. Look, if the general consensus is that this is not something that people who have this problem want to pursue then I will forget about the whole thing. I was not trying to do this for just myself. It seems to me that this was an almost Universal problem and therefore a manufacturing flaw.

First, the foam does work
Next, you did not say whether the AC evaporator has been changed, I would suspect after 13 years it has and if so it probably the dash was not put back correctly.

There is another thing you can do.
If you remove the cowling (not too big a deal) there are 4 long bolts that secure part of the dash and I've seen those come loose
or were not tIghtened properly after an evaporator install.
That should be the first thing to look at, it's easy enough (and as said, Volvo will laugh you right off the phone).
IT'S A 13 YEAR OLD CAR! So you need to stop talking about a silly class action.
These dashes really do not rattle as a rule when they've never been touched
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP

Okay then. Yes I checked the bolts last week; they seemed fine, did about an eighth of a turn on each. And you know what, you are probably right. I am just going to forget the whole thing and at the same time stop listening to people on this site. All it does is make me think that things are worse than they probably are. I think it might be the case that there are two types of people here; hapless weiners and I know it all ego maniacs. I am done.
