Class action against... Rain-X

I know many will disagree but I had the windshield fluid reservoir sensor level issue several months after using the yellow Rain-X De-icer (winter) fluid. Perhaps the silicone in this fluid causes deposits on the sensor and fools it. The sensor would start showing empty (on the dash display) even though the reservoir was full. I had to empty the reservoir, pour 1 cup of vinegar, let is sit several days, then rinse and use another brand fluid. The sensor came back to normal.

What I also found today is that there was recently a class action against Rain-X for this exact same issue. Again, maybe not all their fluids are in cause, but it seems to affect several european brands than may be sharing the same type of fluid level sensor

Interesting. I was not aware there was an issue. Fortunately you were able to restore function with a vinegar bath.

Not a big fan of class actions, but I wonder what the environmental impact of all that silicon causes downstream.

The safest approach is the old scrapper and a little elbow work. Sometimes the "wonder sauce" just causes more harm than good. Officially off my list of products so thank you for the heads up.
