Also, I was thinking of the possibility of leaky injector(s)...
About 15-20 minutes after I shut the car off, there is still pressure in the rail, but maybe and hour or two later the pressure is a lot lower, if even existent at all. So I am also thinking of the possibility that an injector or two may be leaking whatever fuel is in the rail into a cylinder so that it is initially flooded when trying to start. Also, wouldn't leaky injectors make the car run rich as well?
Any thoughts on this theory?

The pressure will subside normally, but I think it is more like after about an hour. So your leaky injector theory is decent, the common test for that is to pull the pressurized rail and (carefully) put paper towels under the tips. If they are leaking, they will leak onto the towels and you will get/smell/see fuel.HawleyTronics wrote:Also, I was thinking of the possibility of leaky injector(s)...

Checking the coil is free I'd definitely do that. But I also wonder if the problem could be the wires as mentioned. Not enough to run out and get replacements (must be Bougicord), but what is the date code on them?

I replaced the ECT Sensor today with a Bosch one and no difference. It runs great, and I took a trip to Walmart right after I installed the new ECT sensor but when I came out of Walmart, maybe about 40 minutes later, it started hard again. Once it starts it runs fabulous, but the starting issue seems to be the only issue at this point.
I will check the wires and pull the injectors tomorrow maybe. My GF has been using the car for work and I've been driving my convertible to work, so I can't work on the car when it isn't home.

I haven't done anything else, yet.
I just purchased a whole set of injectors on ebay, so hopefully when those come in they will fix the issue. If not, no biggie, I will at least know I have new injectors now too.
I got them here for $119 for the set! http://www.ebay.com/itm/190672874905?ss ... 1439.l2649

OK, the injectors fixed the hard-start issue! This is the first time the Volvo has started without cranking hard since I bought it last summer! And it is consistent now too, since my GF said it started up perfectly this morning too.
The injectors were replaced in about 20 minutes and she started right up, even after releasing the pressure from the rail. The gas mileage was really good as it was, I can only imagine it would be even better now!

Did you ever test them for leaks, or just swap in another set? Just curious how bad the leak was, if it was just one or a couple, etc.
Thanks for posting up the fix, glad you have it fixed!
