traveling uphill surged at a steady speed

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

traveling uphill surged at a steady speed

Post by rerobin66 »

discovered today that the hose on the top of my turbo by pass valve had broken off from behind the intake manifold and this caused my car to shudder when in a steady speed on incline. thought it was shift solenoids at first but these forums changed my mind. Did clean MAF and MAP (BPS) and it didn't change the symptoms. Also thought it was the ETM....was going to clean it next, but with my good Karma.....problem is now solved. Moral of story, check all hoses!

Car is running at about 97% perfect. still felt an almost undetectable shudder under load. Yet car has tons of power and speed..hummm. Cleaned the Mass Air Flow again and with more precision. Getting better with each effort.

How old are the spark plugs? It's one of the most overlooked possibilities and one of the least expensive things to replace. Avoid all the high tech over priced stuff. Use the $2.50 copper core NGK's. I've had the best luck with those, yet getting the auto parts store to sell them to me is like pulling teeth. They're so bent on selling the expensive stuff that I have to have them order in the copper cores.

If new plugs don't fix it, you may want to rig up a fuel pressure gauge to the injector rail test port that you can tape to the windshield and monitor while you drive up hill under heavy throttle load. I was able to diagnose a faulty fuel pressure sensor that way.

LOL, yeah the T6 is a good motor. Wide torque band so it doesnt make much of a fuss when you lean on it but it racks up speed pretty good. Use cruise control, that's all im saying!
