Leaking Swapped Sunroof

Post by asg1986 »

Hello,

I've got a leaking problem with a swapped sunroof from a 960 that I put into my 940. Actually-- this is the second one that leaks... I wanted a working sunroof w/ glass so I swapped in a 960 sunroof. It leaked between the plastic corners w/ the drains and the metal frame, so I tried re-gluing and riveting the plastic corner piece to the metal frame. This didn't work. So I replaced the assembly a second time, but I am having the same issue. I've attached a picture of the plastic piece on the sunroof assembly. Has anyone else experienced this and/or found a solution?

Thanks!

The part numbers for the 960 and 940 sunroofs are different so I would assume that there is something different about their construction.

You haven't said what year your 940 is. A compatible sunroof was fitted to the 740 from 1988 to 1992 but this was only used on the 940 to 1993.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the response! My 940 is a 1993. Before it had the metal moonroof, but it didn't work and I wanted glass. Everyone says that this swap is possible and no one reports any leaking unless the tubes are plugged up, or the glass isn't fit in the opening correctly.... My experience seems the opposite of everyone else's...
