Hello,
Has anyone heard of this repair or better yet done it? I am pretty sure my ETM is bad. Yes, I have tried to clean it and its still no working correctly. This seems like a better idea to repair as its not as costly.

Thanks,

That ebay seller is a member of this forum. There are a few threads in the ETM subforum on how to do it.

Try this thread particularly page 2 for procedure. There is a voltage matching procedure as well. Once you get to removing the cover and peeling back the 3 connector side post again and I'll find the thread that talks you through.

can anyone say if the replacement from EBAy works??? I can read where someone states he is a member here, but no comments on it. or at least, i'm looking for one and can't find it yet.
also, is there a place where can I buy just the ETM gasket, in case I want to try to clean etm first???
what's the best place to buy the upper engine mount? are the poly's a viable replacement?
I have a 2000 s80 which I had not done research on and now I think I 'm burned. I was broke before without a car and picked this one up at a nice price, thinking that it would be good transportation, now I think i'm out 2500...thanks to anyone and to all for any help...
also can anyone direct me to alink that has videos for these repairs. i'm not too handy and don't have too many tools, but can't afford much else...again, thanks

Sacer is the only company providing easy install non-contact less sensors for Magnetti Marelli ETMs.
They work very well, however there can be other problems with Magnetti Marelli ETMs other than the contact films wearing out.
It's always best to have the car scanned for other codes. Sometimes all you need is a new MAF
Gasket part number is 8636753 from any dealer such as site sponsor Volvo Country Parts
As far as engine mount try eEuroparts on the above banner

Sorry for the lateness in responding. You have probably already taken action. But if not, I replaced my ETM with a remanufactured ETM from a company call XEMODEX out of Mississauga, Ontario (Canada). They offer a life-time warranty and their remanufactured ETMs are built with contact-less potentiometers (so they don’t wear out like the original design). Although the cost was expensive ($500), the repair was pretty easy. There is a $50 core charge which gets refunded once you ship the defective ETM to them. They provide a postage paid container as part of the cost. Make sure that you don’t cut the cable harness. I replaced the ETM on my 2000 S80 and had to remove a bracket which holds (I think the power steering pump) in order to get the cable out without cutting. The car runs like a champ. My symptoms were the car would bog at inopportune times (i.e. getting on the freeway). Mine never got to the point of Limp Mode, but it was getting dangerous none the less. Hope this helps and it's not too late. Here is their website: http://xemodex.com/technologyimproved/volvo. Hope this helps.

Sacer supplies throttle sensors to XeModex as well as all the other repairers doing the contacless repair. In the end you get what you pay for and it's better to steer away from the bottom end priced repairers.
Having personally repaired these now for 18months I can say that there are lots of variation in problems with them.
