I found that I just removed the bottom rubber seal and the motor just drops out. Of course either need a news seal kit or replacing into a new casing

If your O ring is damaged, as in the picture above from one of the other members, you need to replace it. If it is leaking at that point, then likely it is damaged. I replaced mine, and did not use sealant. I have no leaks.

Volvo recommends a new seal. Below is from VADIS.

Mounting the fuel pump fitting
Use a new dry gasket, no. 3531426-9. Make sure it is fitted correctly. Lubricate the top plane surface of the inside and the narrow outer edge with a thin layer of vaseline.
Lubricate the top edge of the rubber seal so that it does not rub against the nut.
The fuel pump fitting should be fitted with the connection for the heater to the right, see arrow.
Note! If the fuel pump fitting is incorrectly mounted, there is a risk of breakdown.

Good luck.

You can't just replace the little green o-rings in the fuel line connector which itself is molded to the line which runs to the fuel filter. The line is clamped to the fuel tank so the tank must be dropped just to replace this two foot line. Another service unfriendly design.
