2004 Volvo S60. Are the headrest interchangable?

I have a 2004 S60 Volvo, which I just bought a month ago. The headrests are extremely uncomfortable and are causing me to have serious neck problems. I have been to my chiropractor 8 times in less then 2 weeks. Are the headrests interchangable with any other cars? If not, can something be done to push the headrest back so it doesn't protrude too far forward?

Head rests is a misnomer. They are head restraints designed to protect your head and neck in the event of a collision and should be as close as possible to the head without actually touching it.

I can't think of any Volvo model which has had adjustable head restraints, as those that are adjustable on other makes are as much use as a chocolate fireguard in a collision - they move when the head is slammed back against them.

Changing the restraints, therefore, would probably not help your problem, even if they were interchangeable.

I'd like to get rid of the head restraints. They make it very hard to see out of the rear of the car.

My wife and I had the same problem. I was told that the S-80 does have adjustable headrests; but, not having a pot of gold didn't take that route.

We purchased and installed 7/8 inch thick sheapskin covers. No only did this chage the position of the back relative to the headrests, it also made for a more comfortable seat.

The headrests are extremely important as they are crash restraints and clearly serve a safety purpose. So I would not remove them to resolve the comfort issue.
