I had my check engine light come on, and after a bunch of online research, i picked up a code reader. It said the fault code was the cvvt solenoid. I plan on locating one this coming week and replacing it, i would presume at the dealer....
Am i getting into trouble by not replacing it immediately?? Does this have anything to do with the timing belt and since it is loated in the general area, with the cover off, should i replace the timing belt as well??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
cvvt solenoid code

Won't do any harm, and you don't have to remove the timing belt to get to it.
Here's the write-up for it.
As for your timing belt - when was it last replaced? If it was more than 7 years or 105,000 miles ago (or you don't know the history of the car), yes, replace it. Otherwise, if you're not up to that time frame yet, it's probably fine. Wouldn't hurt to pull the cover and have a look around, though.

What was the code number?
I have a good used solenoid on my desk that I can make a deal on but that may not be your problem. The code number will tell us more.
You don't need to even touch the timing belt to replace the solenoid.

The gasket needs to be replaced whenever the solenoid is removed.martigan wrote:help!!!!! noticed today that there was oil leaking from my Volvo V70....I have a P1332 error code and the CVVT solenoid was super hot. The timing belt has oil on it now too....

If the belt is wet you need to replace it (not the tensioner) too
Probable cam seal leak

Thanks for the replies... The cvvt is leaking as I took it off to see if i could clean it up and get it to operate again.....what a mistake!!! Now, the darn thing is leaking oil. I have a gasket making kit and want to know if i can use it temporarily until i get the new solenoid and gasket ???

That gasket would be a difficult shape to re create. You can use a RTV gasket compund as a temporary measure. Apply with a small roller to get a thin coating. Just be certain you use the bare minimum as you really don't want this stuff blocking oil galleries to the cams.
