My 2000 N/A phase one has the small elbow tube on the end of the inlet manifold but it is on the drivers side, that said most of you chaps would think my steering wheel was on the wrong side as well being a UK car.
The small elbow hose is brittle and easy to break so don't go tugging at it or it will snap, Volvo don't sell this small pipe (well not in the UK anyway) it is part of a larger assembly on the 2000 cars that forms the main blow-by pipe from the PCV tank to the engine air intake pipe amalgamated with a heater hose to warm the gas pipe up all sealed under some hard foam insulation - Mike

Does your engine have a metal (aluminium) or plastic fuel rail cover Mike?

All the plastic fuel rail covered engines are B5244S and shouldn't have the elbow.

If it's a B5254S it will have an aluminium fuel rail cover and will have the elbow.

It's OK if it crumbles though. In the name of basic maintenance you actually want to know if it is near crumbling (and therefore prone to leaking) so check it, tug on it!

It's just a vacuum line, it doesn't need to be buried in the blow-by pipe. Just install a replacement, routed where it is convenient.

Just wanted to circle back and say I bought the Denso sensor from amazon.com ($149) for the 2000 V70 NA and installed last night. I drove it about 15-20 miles after clearing the P0135 code and it did not return. It was previously re-setting after just driving a mile or two. Thanks to everyone for their responses and input.
