Re: Broken Head Bolt Question
I torqued down the head today and there was no problem or drama with the damaged treads, it actually went smooth in comparison to some of the other bolts that I was worried that they were going to break. Definitely glad to have that part behind me. Now on to getting the VVT set right.

Got my car together a few days ago, smoked me out of the garage I was working in when it fired up. Started smoking pretty heavy so I pulled it out of the garage and let it run for about 5 minutes. It was still smoking so I took it up and down my street (about .25 miles) smoking pretty heavy. Topped off the coolant reservoir and took it up and down again where it smoked less. Topped off the coolant again, repeated it 4 times until no smoke and the coolant level stayed full.
Pulls hard off the line (set the waste gate actuator at 7 psi instead of the factory 6.5 psi) but now getting the P0014 code. I set the VVT according to my interpretation of the directions but must be off just enough to set the code. I can erase the code and the first time starting it the code is pending, the second start will turn the light on. I also am having an issue with the cruse control intermittently working. It seems to work on some trips and not on others. The car starts easy in the morning but recently had it take a bit more cranking after driving a few miles to the store. Took maybe 5 seconds for it to start, usually fires in the 1-2 second range. I still need to check the timing marks again since I started running the car and pressurized the system. I rotated the timing belt pulleys before pulling the pin to set the tensioner and the marks lined up properly.
There has not been any backfiring and the rough idle only occurred for a few minutes during the initial start-up and has not been rough since.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks
