how to disassemble transmission electrical connector?

Post by mercurysys »

We purchased a new wiring harness for our 5-speed automatic and need to know how to disassemble the electrical connector. I have looked all over but have not found anything, does anyone have instructions on how to do this?

Thank you.

There's a little Swivel in the front that goes down then you pull the stainless steel lever thingy back. Did it a few weeks ago, that's what I remember of it.

I figured out how to separate the 2 halves. I'm talking about the half that is bolted to the tranny, the one that the sensors and the transmission safety switch are going into. I have a new wiring harness that the solenoids plug into.

A photo and explaining the how-to is even better, not just what.

I put some small vise grips on the end that the wires are coming out of, so you can pull straight up on the Innerds part as you hold down on the outer cover(the part with the bolt flange ), but before you start pulling on it you have to stick a small pocket knife blade (I used a classic Barlow 3 inch) just on the inside of the cover at the end where the wires are NOT coming out. You slide it down past the end pins where you see a small BLUE "keeper" that you have to push toward the wired end, before starting to pull up on the vise grip. If we all had three hands, it would be very simple!
