v70 Lower Front Engine Mount (hydraulic)

Post by wrldky »

For some reason I cannot find any info on this. There is a mount in the lower front center of the engine. My mechanic says it is fine but is missing 3 of the 4 bolts for the bracket. When I called Volvo they said it only has 3 bolts but they would have to special order. Is this hard to access to replace the bolts? Volvo says they don't carry but that they are m10x40 bolts; Can anyone confirm this?

Just looking for some guidance.

(FYI this is not the engine mount accessed on the front passenger tire)

Thank you for any help you can provide!

That looks like what I need: #43 Flange screw Stock Code 985163
It does say it is a m10x40. I'm sure it takes more then the 1 bolt it shows. I believe I can get that bolt at Carquest. Do you have any idea how hard this might be to access?

I had raised the engine by loosening the item 39 when replacing the control arm.
You may want to take off the protective plate first and count the missing bolt.

I appreciate your help. You are not sure of how many bolts there are or how hard it is to access them?

Hard
You need to raise the engine or drop the subframe a couple of inches

Just took a look at it and the bracket is obviously broken so it needs to be replaced. Also seems like the reason it is missing a bolt is because it was snapped off and the threaded half is embedded in the engine block. Does anyone have instructions for changing the front lower mount bracket?

You want engine support bar. I was able to replace front pad on N/A engine w/o removing intake manifold, there was enough clearance for ratchet extensions and joints. Probably won't work on turbo. Make sure you've got all the gaskets. Don't remember anything particularly difficult for average DIYer, with good support bar it is quite doable.

Here it goes:

Can't I just support the engine below? Does anyone know what the shop manual says?
