'96 960 Wagon popping noise when turning

Hello,

Has anyone ever experienced a popping noise when turning the steering wheel? It occurs when the car is rolling, or when it is stopped, and occurs when I'm turning the wheel in either direction. The noise comes from both the left and the right side of the car. I lifted it and checked ball joints. They were okay, so I replaced the inner tie rods, and while I was at it I replaced the sway bar endlinks. I know these can make a popping noise on S70's/ 850 (I'm more familiar with their noises). Any ideas? This is a car I bought with a bad transmission and engine, so both have been swapped out. I don't know if the car had this issue before as I couldn't drive it. The upper strut mounts don't move when the wheel is turned either, so I'm pretty sure I can rule this out... Thanks!

Can these be sprayed with WD-40 like a 240 Steering U-Joint?

Or is there another trick? Any way to test? Will it not make a knock when the suspension is loaded?

popping when body roll?
---could be the strut braces/spring seats going bad.

How many miles on the car?
Does it do this while the car is ditting still?>
Does it squeal when you turn? if so, check the steering fluid, steering box could be losing oil
Check the belts? are they tight? cracked?
Check the sway bar end links.
Bounce the front end? does it knock?

Also take a quick look at the collar from inside near pedal.
