transmission fluid change

im thinking of doing a transmission fluid change on my 850, i just brought it and the fluid is kind of reddy/brown but no brunt smell, i find the level on the dipstick never changes eg. when cold its still in the hot part, and when hot sits on the hot part like there is not expansion due to temperature of the fluid? is this normal or is the fluid too full at cold. when i change the fluid does it matter if its a little overfull or what kind of problems may this cause, i often think a little more is better, is this a good idea or not!

I follow my user manual's instructions precisely: check fluid on a level surface with engine warm (and I think running); fill to recommended level.

well if u change the fluid, there is always a danger that the correct fluid level is not used resulting in transmission failure. If u do not change the fluid, there is no risk.

the levels are important coz, too low will result in transmission failure, too high and the seals may just leak and without u knowing the level will drop too low and again transmission failure follows....

having said that users always find it better to change...
