CD Player security code not working

recently swapped a cd/tape combo into my wife's car. I was smart enough to jot down the vin of the car I pulled it from at the junk yard.

I called the dealer to get the code. He gave it to me. I entered it in and nada. The security light turns off but the code stays on the lcd screen.

It does not say "err" or "off"

The dealers will often help if you bring the radio in and show them the serial number of the radio.

Call around and see if you can find a dealer with the knowhow to get the code for you this way.

Having the VIN only works if the radio is original to that car
Otherwise you need ALL the numbers on the radio incl the long serial number which can be anywhere on the radio.
Sometimes it's on the label, sometimes it's stamped in the metal, it depends on where the radio was built, then a dealer can get the code that way.

Bear in mind many dealer's parts people are quite lame and have no idea how to do this.

We can, but many have never been shown how to do this.
