For 98 S-70 T5-M: Remove the metal clips (carefully) surrounding the glass lens. Next, open and remove the bulb covers (round) and disconnect the electrical wiring for (both head light and hi-beam)...leave the bulbs intact (inside the headlight assembly. Next, locate three bolts holding the headlight assembly (mine has three bolt...two one one side, and one on the other). Do not adjust any angles of the headlight (were the leveler or mercury sits). Remove the entire headlight assemly towards the front bumper (you). Gently remove the glass, and remove the old glass (lens) and reverse the operation. About 30-40 minutes for first timers. Your done!

Absolutely! When I changed mine, the first step was removing both headlights.
Popping the clips on the bench was a piece of cake once they were out.

And I left the lamp covers in place and just unplugged the
connector for the entire headlight assembly. Much simpler.

And absolutely, positively resist the urge to touch ANYTHING behind the lens.
Oils from your hands will fry the lamps and the front coated silvering on the
reflector is extremely delicate and will scratch if you even breathe hard on it .

The cheap, Scancrap E-code lense's that I installed came with a long piece of rubber
to replace the complete "loop" of the original sealing gasket. Keep the original...
The other one will leave a gap, allowing moisture into the headlight.

Like you read above, this shouldn't take more than an hour.
Another exciting Volvo DIY project!
Have Fun!

Driver side lens is cracked.
I understand OEM is Hella.

My choices are:
- Nordic lens from eeuroparts $60.
- Hella lens from eeuroparts $100.
- Used assembly (the entire HL assembly) from ebay $50.

Anyone here used Nordic before?

Just replaced one my headlight lenses. Bought a no-name brand because the right hand lens cracked while driving through a storm system, same one that spawned all those tornadoes!

I definitely agree with re-using the factory gasket and clips, and disconnecting the wiring harness for the entire headlight assembly to take it all out at once. The hardest part was getting a socket head on the bolt next to the turn signal.
:o The beater just won't die! So we're clawing our way back to Stage 0.

Oem would be Hella & Bosch.
I would use used Oem assembly or a new Hella lens.

Aftermarket lenses have a slightly different glass pattern from OEM ones and the light output would be weaker than with oem.

When I replaced my lenses I cleaned the reflective surface and ruined the headlights. I ended up using spray adhesive and tinfoil to get by.

In the end up buying just the lens was a waste of money, because now I have to purchase the whole headlight which comes with a lens.

What I am trying to say is if your headlights are old you may just want to purchase the whole module.
