While I still do very much appreciate all your help, I must say that like MANY others on here I find your tone rude, ignorant, and insulting. I am SO sorry that I missed the part about not turning the car off. I'm pretty sure you could have nicely pointed that out rather than being a complete ass about it. Just because you're an old buck doesn't give you the right to talk down to others. You sir need to take lessons on how to properly interact with other people.

So again I want to make it known that I do very much appreciate your help. However, I will have to ask that if you plan on being rude or condescending in any way then please keep your comments to yourself. I don't deserve it nor do I need that kind of help. Didn't your mother teach you anything?

I will make sure to post about this encounter and you personally on Facebook and other media outlets to keep people informed. Hopefully your conduct doesn't adversely effect this site.

You know.... seriously!
I said it twice, not once, wrote it BOLD which you said you read plus someone else also said the same thing.
(That makes three times it was posted)
Wouldn't you think after that you would try to follow the instructions... especially when someone (me) goes out of their way to get your code for you?
C'mon, be honest, you said you missed it. Bull, you didn't miss it, you just thought you could do it your way
However, you didn't follow the simple instructions then blast me for being sarcastic with you?

People wonder why I'm allegedly rude, it's not being rude, it's total frustration when someone tries to help people when no one else does.... then they don't listen or decide to do it their own way
Your code was a little more trouble. My guy was off for three days, I had to go over to the dealer and "borrow" the computer to get it for you and I get thanks with that comment.

I think I will not get codes anymore for anyone if this is what I get for helping people.
At this point you really do not have the right to make the comment you did.

You asked "is this my problem", I just answered yes, this is your problem. Normally I would not have written it that way, or at all, I was just confirming YOUR statement

On the same topic, if one does not want to deal with Volvo factory radio code etc., then a "good bang for the buck" is:
- "Blaupunkt CD34 player Indiana"
- "Blaupunkt CD34 player Montreal".
- "Blaupunkt CD34 player San Remo".

You can buy this for about $75 new, install it yourself and best of all, you can run a separate cord for ipod, itouch, iPhone.

whitemountainnut, JRL was not rude, he basically told you to follow instructions to the "t".

These factory Volvo radios are "crazy", you have to do exactly as told, no other way around it.

Basically park the car in the garage (or drive for 2h uninterrupted) with radio ON (key in ignition) to reset the code.

Thank you everyone for your time, effort, and suggestions on this issue. I am truly very sorry that opinions got aired. Probably best to leave it there. As I said, I will run the car for two continuous hours this weekend and if it works then great. If it doesn't then I still have the other radio :-)

I do have to add that it wad both rude and ignorant of JRL to assume that I "wanted to do it my own way". That is not an opinion, just a simple fact. Just as it is a simple fact that I didn't follow the instructions to the "t". I realize that and apologize for that, but that is no reason to be talked down to..

Thank you all again :-D

How to get the radio from OFF to CODE.

Some radios need the key in the "I" position, some have to be in the "II" and left on for 2 hours. The car doesn't have to be running.

Scott,...I went out after 2 hours and my radio wasn't ready, waited until 3, not ready, at 4... Ready.

I don't know exactly when it switched since the Kardassians were guests on Oxygen channel that day so I was tied up, but somewhere between 3-4.....set the time aside and gitterdun.....
