Pre-OBD II Code Scanning
Hopefully I'm in the right place to ask a basic newbie question. Looks like it has never been covered in this topic, so I guess the topic is green like me! I must have jumped a generation of cars, or at least my early 90's cars didn't provide cause to "educate" me. I'm used to reading DTCs on OBD II compliant cars (I have a mid-grade Actron scanner). What are the options for my 1995 960? Are SRS diagnostics on the same system as the rest of the car? (I seem to recall seeing SRS topics mentioned separately). I'm open to stand-alone devices or PC based software + cables, if there is such a thing. Not too much $$, as I'm uncertain whether or not I'll own any other cars that have the need. Thanks!

Zip, I'll move this to RWD because it's as much a 960 question as an OBD-II question.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.
Also -> Amazon link. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!
1998 V70, no dash lights on
1997 850 T5 [gone] w/ MSD ignition coil, Hallman manual boost controller, injectors, R bumper, OMP strut brace
2004 V70 R [gone]

Thanks matthew1. I assumed the OBD thing would be a cross-model topic, so I went with "Tools." After posting there, I opened my eyes to see that there is a OBD topic within the RWD forum. So I guess my query is kind of redundant. I'm happy to call this "case closed" unless somebody has something to add.matthew1 wrote:Zip, I'll move this to RWD because it's as much a 960 question as an OBD-II question.
