2007 XC90 V8 Slow/Hesitant Start

2007 XC90 V8 Slow/Hesitant Start

Hello everyone, I am having issues with my 07 XC90 4.4 on start-up. I am familiar with Volvo's, but this is my first XC90 and I have only owned it for six months. It seems that there is a slow groan/whine and it hesitates to start-up. It's a slower turnover compared to my other other cars, and I seem to have accepted that, but in the last week I have had two issues where it won't start and I have to "recycle" the ignition process. I replaced the battery last month, but I have a sinking feeling that it is the starter motor. Any other suggestions would be welcome. Also does anyone know how hard the starter is to replace, is it a DIY solution?

Thank you for your help. The car has ~79K miles.

Make sure you check the cables and connections before you replace the starter.
