2004 XC90 2.5T rough idle and loss of power

Post by RyanD727 »

My 2004 XC90 2.5T recently began idling rough and losing power when accelerating quickly. I noticed an audible airflow noise that sounded different than the turbo spooling up as well. Today, the idle got worse and now the engine seems to stumble when driving. Also, the check engine light has started blinking intermittently. I am thinking this may be some sort of vacuum leak or PCV issue based on what I have read on other posts. Any input would be very heplful...Thanks!

You may have to clean the throttle body, also known as the ETM in Volvo's. I had the same problem with my other Volvo (2004 S60) with the 2.5T engine.

Do you have check engine light as well? If you do cleaning the throttle won't help. The turbo hoses and clamps may have a leak.

Check them all but I guess they'll all come off and be retightened when you clean the throttle bore. Is air cleaner element clean?
