2004 XC90 tailgate latch

2004 XC90 tailgate latch

Intermittent problem with tailgate latch not opening from remote(battery o.k.) Actuator just replaced at dealership service shop. Problem continues. Was advised by dealership service that presence of rust is causing problem. Any way to fix this?

Is the issue only intermittently? Is this the fold-down part?
If rust is the issue you should be seeing it. Are you?
