I have a 2004 base model Volvo V70 non turbo. I need a new oil trap, hoses etc according to my mechanic as my car started the whistling sound just as we were about to leave on a road trip. He is an independent mechanic who has worked on Volvo oil trap replacements before. He said parts are around $100.00 and labor would be 2-3 hours. Is this correct? Hoping so as I have already spent a boat load on repairs since buying this lemon. Any cost estimates out there?
Car has 129000 miles. I have replaced since buying it in October 2011 with 107,000 miles the catalytic converter ($1,200.00), the lower control arm bushings ($400.00), had a software download for the transmission ($250.00), fixed a rear broken door lock ($250.00), replaced the compressor to the air conditioner ($610.00) and now this!!! Plus just for good measure the front passenger door handle just broke and I have been quoted $113.00 for that. What else can go wrong I shudder to ask?? This is my third and final Volvo. My last one had the same mileage as this one when it was totaled by a careless driver. It was a loaded 2004 Volvo v40 and had none of these problems. I loved that car and my 850. Of course I owned it brand new and was a meticulous owner. I thought I was safe buying the same year Volvo but a base model so there would be less to go wrong. I went with a larger car because I was rear ended at 50 miles an hour and am now freaked out about being rear ended again any time I make a left turn on a two way street. I thought a bigger car would be safer. Boy was I wrong. When will the repairs end??? I cannot afford to replace it or maybe I can as I am spending an average of $250 a month on maintenance and these repairs. Were 2004 V70's the worst ever made?? Sorry for venting. I am just at a loss. Thanks. I really appreciate this forum as you all have been so helpful in the past.

A LOT more can go wrong, but that breather price is fair

You can confirm the parts prices at any of the above MVS vendors' links. I think the parts estimate is correct.
