96 960 blown head gasket

cracked radiator at top hose connection lead to over heating. replaced radiator - unfortunately the head gasket went. white smoke pours out exhaust. has anyone ever tried myduraseal? I don't like using sealer but don't want to replace head gasket.. any thoughts? thank you...

No. Those products have some limited effectiveness on cast iron engines but open deck aluminum is low success rate. The dirty rotten secret of the magic elixir poured into radiators biz is the stopped up heater cores and stopped up oil coolers. In some cases plugged radiators. Your engine does have a coolant to oil oil cooler.

change the headgasket... i find it pretty easy to change. the only anoying part is the intake manifold.

"fun" project to change your gasket! Do that and check your compression and fluids. Hope and pray you did not warp your heads. I came close to your outcome myself in the middle of nowhere. Replace those radiators Ya'll! it's just a matter of time :)

grg probably did warp the heads. Even a slight warp will guarantee destruction of the new gasket. Do yourself a favor and take them to a machine shop where they will inspect the heads for free. Here in Carbondale resurfacing and cleaning costs $55. If there is a chance the heads are cracked, the shop can perform a pressure test, which with the resurfacing and cleaning costs $135.
