99 V40 - Battery clamp?
Just noticed today that theres no clamp holding my battery in. The base of the battery locks itself into the battery cradle, but it allows the battery to move from side to side. Just wondering what others have and if this is the way they came from the factory or if Im missing a clamp arrangment to secure it in

Just checked mine after reading your post.
I have a 2002 V40. You are quite right, they do not have a physical bracket arrangement over the top of the battery as is normal for most vehicles.
I have a genuine Volvo battery fitted in mine which sits very snugly in the battery tray. The bottom edge around the base of the battery casing has a bevelled thickening that appears to tuck under a lip in the plastic trays perimeter upstand on the left side, full length as facing the frontguard.
The front and rear edges of the bevelled thickening to the battery appear to be retained by a plastic moulded clip or bracket about 5 to 6cm long that locks somehow over the battery tray near the 2 corners closest to the motor. (left side-looking from vehicle front)
These 3 retention points prevent the battery from exitting the tray although I rather doubt the adequacy if a vehicle rolled over in an accident.
I would be especially concerned if an aftermarket battery was fitted that does not have the continuous bevelled base edge thickening to its casing as it then leaves nothing to fit the plastic clips/brackets over or to fit under the tray upstand lip on the guard facing edge.
Some sort of durable nylon / leather strap hooked or screw fixed to bodywork under the fixed tray, front and rear edges with a push in click lock buckle as a backup would be a good idea in the near future. It can be unfastened to access the screw caps for topping up battery fluid if not a maintenance free type or to allow battery removal as required.

Yep, my current battery sits in the tray and has the extra bit of plastic that tucks into the tray. The battery seems to be physicaly retained in the tray ok as is, but theres nothing to stop it sliding from side to side. I found the answer in a little plastic clip that I dont have:

I put in an order for a few parts with iPd yesterday and they have them, so one got added to my order.
