Toddler Car Seat installation

Post by deb722 »

We recently purchased a 1997 S90 Sedan in great condition. Unfortunately, we can't get our toddlers car seat installed properly (it would be forward facing). We have brought it to our local police station and they have tried everything. Does anyone have a solution to this dilemma ? Please help !

What is so peculiar aboit the S90 interior that stops the seat from installing properly? Does Volvo provide child seat anchors on the rear parcel shelf?

Our Volvo 760 sedan which shares the same platcorm as the S90 had a child seat anchor point in the middle of the parcel shelf. I would take the car to a good mechanic. He will know what to look for.

More details please. (Outboard seatbelt through the seatbelt path in the seat?)

I'm not sure what you mean by outboard seatbelt. The major problem that I can tell is that we don't know how to tether the seat in the car. The back of the car seat is pushed forward by the headrest and
the car did not come with a tether.

Outboard = not middle seat, the other two

Can you take a picture? My '97 850 has no anchors, so I route the outboard seatbelt through the frame of the carseat. It's the "official" way, not something I hacked together, despite my poor description. :-)

Yea... So my 98 s90 had "special" front buckle for car seats... That was a whole 15 years ago Ya'll! We learned a lot about airbags!

There are no anchors on the seats. You need to pick a toddler seat model that will allow the use of the main seat belt running behind the car seat. Also beware of seats that will not fit! It really is surprising how much space those seats take.

We are using the Brittax MArathon series in our Xterra, and Evenflow triumph series in the s90. Both have a tunnel at about the butt in the seat for the seat belt to run through. I think I prefer the Brittax myself, but I seem to recall having trouble getting it to fit in the space...
