1996, 850R, OBD-II connector

Post by rd350dk »

Hey there.
I have, what is supposed to be a 1996 850R. But i am not able to locate the OBD connector. I have attached a picture, as i have an orig. fuel-driven heater where the connector is supposed to be. Can anybody help me out?
In the engine bay, there are the check-boxes "A" & "B", where a lead/wire can be put into several holes. But the one end of this wire is not connected to anything? Is this supposed to be connected to the chassis?
Thanks in advance, Jan from Denmark

I believe that your car is a pre-OBDII build possibly late '95 because you should have a ribbed ashtray which usually hides the connector.

A very interesting set up. Looks like a defrost button, hour, minute, trip1 and trip2.

Your car does not have an OBDII port, unless it is hidden elsewhere (center console or under the dash).

The two diagnostic boxes are really all you need. The probe in the "A" box should have a wire connector to the bottom of the "A" box. They tend to break off after many years and need to be joined again. The boxes pull up and out for repair, just watch out for the short wires that connect to the computer terminal leads.

I was lucky enough to find two boxes in a junk yard (salvage).

If I had a larger garage, I could have more Volvos.
